Speaking as a couples therapist and relationship guru, I'm often asked how to flirt. It's easy than you think: the majority of all communication is through nonverbal body language, so a large part of successful flirting is learning how to tune-in to others.
By following the advice in this article, you'll be successfully flirting in no time!
Use Your Eyes
Eye contact is important facet of communication, especially flirting. Eyes communicate emotions, and particularly handy for interpreting sexual signals.
Lips
Don't forget to smile. It makes you look friendly and approachable, and a smile indicates interest and opens the door for conversation. If you're female, accentuate your lips with lip gloss. When most people see someone they like, they often stare at their lips, and people often unconsciously lick their lips when flirting.
Be Cognizant Of Your Posture
Your posture reflects your attitude and emotions, so no slouching. Stand tall and confident, with shoulders back and arms relaxed. It's essential to face the person you're interested in.
Hands
Hands are very expressive, and can signal interest, self-confidence and sexual interest. For example, resting your chin on your hand with the index finger pointed towards your temple makes people appear intelligent. Tucking your hand into your pants, and leaving your thumb exposed expresses confidence. Similarly, placing your hands on your hips with the fingers pointed towards your crotch shows sexual confidence.
Touch is a flirting tool. Touching glances signal interest.
Leg Position
Studies show that if someone is interested in you they often point their feet toward you, whether sitting or standing. Often women cross their legs in a seductive fashion to indicate interest, and slipping a foot slightly out of a shoe indicates that one if comfortable with her environment. Constant foot tapping, however, indicates restlessness and general lack of interest.
Generally speaking, if someone give you four positive signals mentioned above then they are likely purposely flirting with you. If you're interested, respond in kind!
